The role
We are looking for an outstanding and ambitious English teacher to join our team as Lead Practitioner English. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional practitioner who is passionate about English, committed to developing others and driven to ensure that every student receives an excellent education.
At Paddington Academy, we have high expectations for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the ongoing development of our teachers. Our English curriculum is ambitious and knowledge-rich, designed to develop students' reading, writing and analytical skills, whilst fostering a genuine appreciation of literature and language. We believe that expert teaching is developed through collaboration, feedback and a relentless commitment to improvement.
As Lead Practitioner English, you will play a key role in developing the quality of teaching and learning across the department. You will work closely with the Subject Leader to support curriculum development, create high-quality teaching materials and ensure that lessons are planned with precision and delivered effectively. You will lead Curriculum Masterclasses to strengthen subject knowledge and teaching expertise, ensuring that colleagues have the knowledge and confidence to deliver excellent lessons.
A central part of the role will be supporting the professional development of colleagues. Through coaching, mentoring, modelling and feedback, you will help teachers refine their practice, including supporting trainees and early career teachers. You will also contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the English curriculum, sharing effective practice and helping to secure consistently high standards across the department.
We are looking for someone who is an excellent classroom practitioner, has excellent subject knowledge and a strong track record of securing excellent outcomes for students. Above all, you will share our belief in the importance of high expectations, the power of excellent teaching and the potential of every student to succeed.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to a department where professional development, collaboration and excellence in teaching are central to our work.
