The role

Estimator

Location: London

Join our team as an Estimator, helping prepare tenders across our construction portfolio. Working with pre-construction and project delivery colleagues, you will develop accurate, competitive bids that support profitable growth.

You will contribute from tender review and risk assessment through cost planning, settlement, submission and handover. You will work with design and project teams to develop value-led solutions and ensure estimates are based on clear, well-developed information.

As our Estimator, you will

  • Review tender documents, visit sites, identify project-specific risks and raise technical queries to clarify the design and scope.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, cost plans and analytical estimates, including preliminaries, using sound construction and commercial judgement.
  • Prepare material and subcontract enquiries, identify suitable subcontractors, and assess and compare quotations.
  • Work with the bid, design and project teams on tender strategy and design development, identifying opportunities for value engineering.
  • Maintain tender risk records, present estimates and commercial issues at settlement, complete submissions and support handover to the delivery team.

About You

You will be an experienced construction estimator with the technical knowledge and analytical skills to prepare robust estimates across a range of sectors and procurement routes.

You will bring

  • An HND, degree or similar construction-related qualification, with experience preparing analytical building estimates.
  • Experience estimating across sectors such as industrial, commercial, education and healthcare, and working with a range of project values.
  • Knowledge of traditional, partnering, design and build, two-stage tendering and framework procurement, together with experience in cost planning.
  • Strong technical and commercial construction knowledge, including Building Regulations and relevant industry standards; awareness of BREEAM and BIM is useful.
  • Confident communicator with strong numerical, organisation and presentation skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines, work with others and use initiative. Microsoft Office skills are essential; estimating software experience is desirable.

What We Can Offer You

  • Competitive salary and car allowance (Subject to role)
  • 26 days annual leave, with the option to buy or sell up to 3 days
  • Additional long service leave at 3, 7, and 10 years
