Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have an opportunity for you to join our Water Treatment team as a Technical Operator, where you'll be part of a dynamic team, operating in the Worcestershire area.
Your role will be to produce and distribute drinking water to high-quality standards for our customers, in the most cost efficient and safe manner. You'll work alongside a dedicated maintenance team, process team and Team Manager using control platforms such as eSCADA.
We love helping our people grow. In this role, as part of your technical training, you'll complete a Level 2 apprenticeship over 12-15 months, with monthly training at our Academy. If you don't have GCSEs, we'll support you to achieve Functional Skills Level 1 first.
You'll build a portfolio of work, get plenty of guidance, and show your skills through on-site assessments - everything you need to succeed!
This position requires participation in out of hours standby duties as part of a scheduled rota.
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Operate and maintain groundwater sources, ensuring effective water treatment processes, including nitrate removal plants and Enhanced Water Treatment (EWT) systems.
- Operate distribution service reservoirs (DSR) and distribution booster stations (DBS) and their associated assets.
- Maintain & improve site standards and identify health and safety improvements.
- Operate the assets under your control to ensure that all quality and quantity limits are met and that there is no adverse impact on the environment.
- Ensure the health & safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is always maintained.
- Ensure sites are operated at a minimum cost in an energy efficient way.
- Comply with statutory requirements, company policies and procedures.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You will be expected to have excellent organisation skills and be efficient and capable of completing several tasks at once whilst working well under pressure. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills and the ability to analyse information to identify potential issues.
Experience in a mechanical or electrical environment is advantageous, and knowledge of chemical processes is beneficial. A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
Depending on experience, the successful candidate will be required to complete and achieve either; a technical skills bootcamp or Level 2 Water Process Operator apprenticeship, which are delivered internally by our Academy.
Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
