About the role
At Northumbrian Water Group, we're investing in our people and our assets, and we're looking for Electrical Maintenance Technicians to join our Maintenance Teams in Bishop Auckland and Darlington.
This is more than a maintenance role. You'll be trusted to work independently across a wide range of sites, diagnosing faults, carrying out preventative maintenance and helping to keep essential water and wastewater services running for our communities. No two days are the same, and you will have unique opportunities to use your expertise to improve plant availability.
We have a diverse range of equipment allowing us to offer a unique prospect to specialise in areas such as High Voltage switching, PLC's, telemetry, level control, variable speed drives.
You will be a fully mobile worker and will be provided with a van, starting and finishing your working day from home. All tools and equipment are provided supporting Technicians to minimise plant down time.
The role requires participation in an out of hour's standby rota. We will ensure that you have the relevant training and experience required to do this. Additional payments are made for standby, callouts and any additional hours worked.
We recognise potential, offering a tailored training package, development, and growth opportunities for people to progress internally. With our committed leadership and close-knit teams, you will never be short of support in your role.
We also offer a structured technical development pathway, providing opportunities to increase your earnings and technical expertise. Successful completion of specialist technical modules can attract additional payments of upto £1,600 per module added to your salary, recognising the value of advanced skills and supporting career progression within the business.
About you
You will be a time served Electrical Technician educated to at least ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. You will have a maintenance background in reactive breakdowns and planned work, and you will manage your time efficiently with minimal supervision. You will be experienced in reading and finding faults from electrical drawings, identifying the source and replacing faulty components.
We are looking for candidates with a can-do attitude, willingness to learn and explore new ways of working. A hands-on practical approach and keen eye for identifying the route cause whilst investigating problems and implementing solutions is essential in this role.
You'll have excellent communication skills and be a team player. A strong Health and Safety ethic is an important part of our Everybody Home Safe Everyday culture.
A full, UK manual driving license is essential for this role.
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
This is a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you'll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
