The role

At North Tyneside Council, people are at the heart of everything we do. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Adult Mental Health Leadership Team as the manager of our Mental Health Social Work Team. As part of our commitment to meeting increasing service demand, this role will strengthen management capacity and support the continued delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.

North Tyneside Council is dedicated to providing outstanding mental health services to our community and improving outcomes for the people we support.

As a team manager, you will be at the forefront of our mental health social work services, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality offer to people who need our help and support as we meet our statutory obligations.

You will lead a team of senior social workers, social workers and mental health reablement workers, providing guidance, support, and professional development to ensure best practices are adhered to.

This role is vital in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and rights of individuals with care and support needs. We work extremely closely with our colleagues in partner services to ensure that our service users always benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach. You will be confident in working with a variety of partners across operational platforms.

You will lead your team and will receive regular support and supervision from the Senior Manager. You will be part of a wider network of team managers. You will be supported to build excellent working relationships with staff, residents and partners, to make our vision a reality.

We invest in our workforce and are immensely proud to be in the top 5 social work employers in the country in the Standards for Employers of Social Workers Health Check 2024.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan

In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council's operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government's net zero target of 2050.

We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can't do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us.
