The role

Scrum Product Owner

  • Own a scrum backlog within a significant insurance transformation programme

  • Build product ownership experience across pricing, technology and delivery

  • Hybrid 80% homeworking and 20% from Stratford-upon-Avon

About the role

At NFU Mutual, you'll join the pricing workstream within our major transformation programme, helping to bring an important Scrum Product Owner capability into the business. Working across pricing, technology and delivery, you'll take genuine ownership of your scrum team's backlog and help ensure our pricing capability continues to work effectively as insurance products move to a new policy administration environment.

You'll shape, define and prioritise the backlog on behalf of the business, turning complex requirements into clear user stories and making sure planned changes have a strong business justification. By assessing the value and impact of features, you'll help the team focus on the work that delivers the greatest benefit and supports effective price development and integration.

Collaboration will be central to the role. You'll work with stakeholders and other squads to understand dependencies, communicate priorities and timescales, and keep delivery moving. You'll provide clear updates on backlog health, progress and team measures, and act as the first point of escalation when issues need to be resolved or unblocked.

You'll also identify and coordinate continuous improvements that strengthen the quality, efficiency and control of change. Where system issues arise, you'll support their resolution and help communicate the business impact clearly and promptly.

This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced or developing Product Owner to make a visible contribution within a significant transformation programme, while building broader experience across insurance pricing and technology delivery.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home. Full-time and part-time hours will be considered.

About you

You're a clear and confident communicator who can build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You organise competing priorities effectively, approach problems with sound judgement and take ownership of finding a way forward. You're also comfortable coaching and supporting others, helping people understand priorities and work towards shared outcomes.

To join NFU Mutual, you'll also bring

  • Product ownership experience in a scrum or agile delivery environment (essential)

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) qualification - highly desirable

  • Knowledge of transformation and adoption activity, or experience delivering non-technical backlogs

  • Proven requirements analysis skills, including translating complex change into clear user stories

  • Experience managing senior stakeholders and coordinating delivery across teams

  • Insurance pricing experience, knowledge of the end to end pricing process, or broader insurance experience combined with strong product ownership capability - highly desirable
