What you'll be doing

What you'll do

As an SEO Specialist, you'll be responsible for delivering SEO improvements across Nationwide's website. You'll identify opportunities to increase organic visibility, improve rankings and drive qualified traffic through a combination of technical SEO, content optimisation and search insight analysis.

You'll work closely with content designers, product owners, engineers and insight analysts to ensure SEO best practice is embedded into website changes, new propositions and customer journeys from the outset. You'll carry out keyword research, competitor analysis and search trend monitoring to identify opportunities that improve customer experience and business outcomes.

You'll support the implementation of technical SEO improvements, including site architecture, internal linking, structured data, indexing and crawlability. You'll also help shape Nationwide's approach to AI-driven search, Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), ensuring our content remains visible as customer search behaviour evolves.

Using data and performance insights, you'll monitor SEO performance and make evidence-based recommendations that drive continuous improvement.

About you

As a minimum you'll have:

  • Proven experience delivering successful SEO strategies within a large or complex digital environment

  • Strong understanding of technical SEO, including crawlability, indexing, site architecture and Core Web Vitals

  • Experience using SEO and analytics platforms such as Google Search Console, GA4, Conductor, Screaming Frog or similar tools

  • Strong keyword research, content optimisation and search intent analysis skills

  • Experience implementing and managing structured data and schema markup

  • Knowledge of emerging search trends, including AI search, AEO and GEO

  • Ability to analyse data, identify insights and translate findings into actionable recommendations

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams

  • Experience working alongside developers, content teams and product managers to deliver SEO enhancements

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
