This is an exciting opportunity to help care for a wide range of historic buildings, visitor facilities, estate properties, workshops, commercial spaces and car parks, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and welcoming for everyone.
Looking after what we've got is at the heart of what we do every day. With a diverse estate to care for and thousands of visitors enjoying our places each year, we're looking for someone who enjoys variety, has a great eye for detail and takes pride in helping things run smoothly.
Interview date: Friday 6th November 2026
Accommodation is provided to the postholder for the proper or better performance of their duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules
What it's like to work here
Attingham Park is one of the National Trust's busiest places, welcoming more than 600,000 visitors each year. Alongside the historic mansion, walled garden and wider estate, the Facilities Team supports a broad range of buildings and facilities across the estate, including Sunnycroft in Wellington, Telford.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you'll join a supportive and collaborative team made up of facilities, business services and operational colleagues who work together to keep our places safe, compliant and welcoming. With so much happening across the estate, no two days are ever the same, so you'll need to be someone who enjoys variety and is happy adapting to changing priorities.
You'll be primarily based at Attingham Park, although occasional travel across the wider estate will be required for meetings, training and operational support. You'll work on a rota that may include any day of the week, including weekends and bank holidays as the property is open 365 days a year.
What you'll be doing
Your role is pivotal to the efficient running of the Attingham Estate, we're looking for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in helping keep things running smoothly, safely and to a high standard.
You'll support the Facilities Manager in the areas of Health & Safety, Security, Fire, Environmental Management and Compliance, helping to ensure our buildings and facilities are well maintained, fit for purpose and welcoming for everyone who visits, works and volunteers here.
You'll help coordinate planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the portfolio, responding to issues promptly, liaising with contractors and supporting colleagues to create a safe and compliant working environment. You'll also play an important role in helping to maintain high standards across our public and operational spaces, ensuring our facilities reflect the special nature of the places in our care.
You'll provide excellent support to colleagues, visitors and external contractors, responding to enquiries, coordinating facilities-related activities and using a range of IT systems to maintain accurate records, monitor compliance requirements and support the effective delivery of facilities services.
With plenty going on at any one time, you'll need good organisational skills, attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude. Looking after such special places means you'll always be looking for ways to improve processes, maintain high standards and help the Facilities Team deliver an efficient and effective service.
No two days are the same, and whether you're arranging contractor visits, supporting compliance checks, helping resolve operational issues or ensuring our visitor facilities are at their best, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the Attingham Estate.
