What it's like to work here
As our Collections & House Officer, you'll be part of a team of five who love working with the objects, historic interiors and buildings across the range of South Somerset NT properties, from mansions and houses to a priory and a windmill!
Reporting in to the Collections & House Manager, you'll combine practical collections care, attention to detail, and collaboration with colleagues and volunteers to ensure our properties are well maintained, welcoming, and protected for future generations.
What you'll be doing
You'll work in a team to get the showrooms across the property group ready for opening every day.
You'll be responsible for routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning. Your attention and expertise will help to ensure excellent standards of care throughout the properties.
You'll collect and record information gathered during cleaning and housekeeping, to improve our knowledge and understanding of the house and all that's in it. You'll use preventive conservation methods to improve how we look after everything, and how we present it to visitors.
