The role

Summary

We're looking for a Business Services Co-ordinator to join us at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal. If you thrive on organisation, enjoy working with a wide range of people, and take pride in delivering high standards of service and presentation, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Salary: £22,089.60 per annum (based on £27,612 FTE)

Contract Duration: Fixed term contract for 24 months

Working Pattern: You'll work 30 hours per week, usually worked Monday to Friday. Some weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required on a rota basis.

What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Business Services Lead, you'll be part of a friendly team of five, providing excellent support to staff, volunteers and visitors. Our open-plan office in the Visitor Centre can be busy at times, but it's also the heart of the organisation, offering plenty of opportunities to get involved, work with different teams, and get to know colleagues from across the site.
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal is one of 1273 sites globally recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Nidderdale National Landscape, and close to the city of Ripon, the estate is iconic in the North of England. This is a unique place made of two moments in history. Where medieval strength blends with 18th century eccentricity to create a landscape full of secrets, curiosities and breathtaking views.
What you'll be doing

You'll support the day-to-day operations at Fountains Abbey, providing business support across a wide range of activities. Your advice and experience will be sought by colleagues beyond the office team, and you'll play an important role in helping the property run smoothly, including being a member of the Duty Manager rota. This is a busy and varied environment with a lot going on, so no two days are the same.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of workstreams and support teams across the property, including managing group visit bookings; using Power Apps and Power Automate to support processes and improve efficiency; helping to administer the back-office functions of our till system, including balancing safes and ensuring compliance with security procedures; overseeing internal and external function bookings; supporting financial tracking; and contributing to emergency planning activities.

You'll be a champion of best practice when it comes to business support and will confidently challenge the status quo when you think there's a better way of doing something.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.

Who we're looking for
We'd love to hear from you if you're:
  • experienced in giving business support, along with responsibility for facilities or office supervision
  • good at communicating, both in writing and speaking
  • able to work as part of a team, but also on your own initiative
  • flexible and focused on people
  • happy to multi-task and manage your own priorities and workload
  • able to remain focused and complete tasks effectively in a busy environment
