How you'll play your part
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by strengthening our approach to financial crime compliance and helping protect the business and our customers from financial crime risk. We're looking for someone who demonstrates sound judgement, attention to detail and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders, with experience or knowledge of financial crime regulation, AML, transaction monitoring and risk-based controls.
Working within a highly regulated and collaborative environment, you'll help to provide effective second-line oversight, identify emerging risks and strengthen financial crime controls, contributing to robust regulatory compliance and a strong risk culture across the business.

Operate and challenge the CRA methodology, country ratings and risk-tiering; recommend model changes.
Support delivery of the annual BWRA.
Support 2LOD oversight of screening and adjudicate escalated matches.
Challenge 1LOD alert investigations, scenario coverage and tuning; recommend new / retired rules to the DMLRO.
Produce TM MI (volumes, ageing, SAR conversion, false-positive rate) and escalate systemic issues and emerging typologies.
Triage, investigate and decision internal SARs; prepare DAMLs and external SARs for MLRO / DMLRO approval.
Own the SAR register and manage engagement with NCA / UKFIU, NaVCIS and police (including production orders).
Set and challenge 2LOD control expectations for fraud (application, identity, dealer-facilitated) and CIFAS / Hunter use.
Support the ABC programme and Criminal Finances Act 2017 tax-evasion facilitation controls; run related thematic reviews.
Deliver the annual FCC monitoring / assurance plan - thematic reviews, control testing and QA of 1LOD case files.
Own the FC issues, breaches and events register and provide independent 2LOD input into Internal Audit and regulator engagement.
Manage FCWG papers and minutes; support Compliance / Risk committees and chair the FCWG in the DMLRO's absence.
Deliver DMLRO / MLRO MI, FCA / HQ AML / FLA / ICS reporting and REP-CRIM; own the annual MLRO Report inputs.
Own the FCC training programme and horizon-scan FCA, JMLSG, FATF, OFSI, HMT, NCA, FLA and UK Finance updates.

Essential:
Broad financial crime compliance experience within a second line of defence role, gained within banking and/or an asset-backed lending or motor finance environment, with practical knowledge across AML and CTF, customer risk assessment, screening, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, fraud and financial crime controls.
Working knowledge of the UK financial crime regulatory framework, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, Terrorism Act 2000 and relevant JMLSG guidance.
Experience providing independent review, challenge and advice to first line teams, including assessing complex cases, identifying control weaknesses and escalating material financial crime risks.
Experience undertaking financial crime monitoring, assurance or quality assurance activity and producing clear management information, findings and recommendations.
Strong analytical, written and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to exercise sound judgement, constructively challenge and communicate complex matters clearly.
Desirable:

Detailed experience of transaction monitoring governance, including scenario coverage, tuning, rule changes, alert-quality challenge, management information and emerging typologies.
Experience investigating and decisioning internal suspicious activity reports, preparing external SARs or DAML requests, maintaining SAR governance records and engaging with law-enforcement bodies.
