Job description
Head of Public Health Strategy, Partnerships and IntegrationRole Responsibility
Help shape the future of public health in Kent. We are seeking an experienced strategic leader to work alongside the Director of Public Health, strengthen partnerships and translate ambitious plans into measurable improvements in residents' health and wellbeing. This is an opportunity to lead a substantial programme of strategy, partnership working and integration, with a clear focus on prevention and reducing health inequalities.
The role
- You will lead the development and implementation of the Kent Neighbourhood Health Plan under the Kent Health and Wellbeing Board, and oversee and support delivery of the Integrated Care Strategy's delivery plan across the partnership. Working across organisational boundaries, you will bring partners together, turn strategic priorities into practical delivery plans and maintain oversight of performance, risks and resources.
- Develop the Public Health Strategic Plan in response to devolution and local government reorganisation, and lead the annual Public Health Strategic Business Plan.
- Take forward KCC Public Health's core offer to the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board.
- Support strategic oversight of projects with districts and boroughs to improve public health and address the wider determinants of health, working with the Lead Consultant for this area.
- Support and advise the Director of Public Health in their work with the Chief Executive and Leader of Kent County Council.
- Support the development of the Centre of Excellence for Public Health.
- Use needs assessments, intelligence, research and evaluation to inform strategy, commissioning and equitable services.
- Embed prevention in partnership plans and develop monitoring and evaluation arrangements to assess its impact, including on urgent care.
About you
You will bring an MSc or MPH in public health and/or other relevant qualifications, alongside proven experience in roles relevant to this post, including experience at a senior level, such as assistant director or director. You will have experience of working at a corporate strategic level and across the NHS, local authorities and social services within a complex social and political environment.
A strategic thinker and proven leader, you will be able to develop and deliver public health strategy, influence diverse stakeholders and communicate complex information clearly. You will have experience of project management, implementing change, managing staffing and commissioning budgets, and supporting staff development.
Strong analytical skills and a high-level understanding of epidemiology, statistics, health economics, public health practice and healthcare evaluation will enable you to make sound, evidence-based decisions. You will be comfortable prioritising and delivering in a dynamic environment of change and uncertainty.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
