The role

The Agile Delivery Lead (ADL) is accountable for the successful delivery of work undertaken by a cross-functional squad within the Engagement & Efficiency Platform.

This is not an administrative Scrum Master role. The ADL is the delivery leader for the squad, responsible for ensuring that work is planned, visible, prioritised, and delivered in a predictable and sustainable manner. The ADL acts as the primary point of coordination between Product Owners, engineers, analysts, architects and stakeholders, ensuring that delivery commitments are understood and achieved.

The successful candidate will combine strong agile delivery expertise with excellent planning, stakeholder management and organisational skills. They will establish confidence that delivery is under control, risks are understood, dependencies are actively managed, and the squad has a clear path to achieving its objectives.

This role operates on a hybrid working model, with attendance in our York office office at least two days per week.

What you'll do

  • Own delivery performance for the squad.
  • Act as the trusted source of truth for delivery status, plans, risks and dependencies.
  • Drive predictable, stable and sustainable delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure delivery commitments are realistic, visible and actively managed.
  • Escalate delivery issues early with clear mitigation plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear short, medium and long-term delivery plans.
  • Understand and communicate priorities, timelines, resource constraints and dependencies.
  • Coordinate delivery activities across engineering, business analysis, architecture and product functions.
  • Proactively identify delivery risks and implement mitigation actions.
  • Ensure all work is appropriately represented and traceable.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and other delivery ceremonies.
  • Help the team remove blockers and manage dependencies.
  • Ensure work flows efficiently through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement through delivery metrics, retrospectives and healthy challenge.
  • Support the squad in maintaining a sustainable delivery pace.
  • Build strong relationships with Product Owners and business stakeholders.
  • Translate delivery complexity into concise, meaningful updates.
  • Manage expectations through clear communication and transparent reporting.
  • Provide accurate delivery forecasts and status reporting.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand risks, constraints and required decisions.
  • Maintain visibility of squad capacity and workload distribution.
  • Identify over-allocation, bottlenecks and delivery constraints.
  • Collaborate with platform leadership to maximise delivery effectiveness.
  • Support prioritisation decisions using capacity and demand data.
