Your Role

As a Recruitment and Human Resources Officer, you will join our Recruitment team and manage a varied caseload across recruitment and wider HR activity. You will oversee recruitment campaigns, respond to manager and candidate queries, and ensure that recruitment activity progresses efficiently and in line with employment legislation and Council policies.

You will also provide practical advice and operational support on matters including sickness absence, probation, redeployment, sponsorship and other employment queries. This will involve gathering relevant information, maintaining accurate records, interpreting HR policies and procedures, and making sure agreed actions are clearly communicated, progressed and recorded.

Using HR, payroll and recruitment systems, you will collate, check and interpret workforce information to resolve queries and support reporting, service planning and decision-making. You will contribute to the development of policies, guidance, systems and processes, using evidence and data to identify opportunities to reduce risk, duplication and inefficiency.

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to develop your experience across recruitment and HR while making a positive contribution to the services we provide to colleagues, managers and the people of Stockport.

About You

You will have previous experience of HR administration, HR processes or providing HR policy and procedural advice. You will understand recruitment processes and have an awareness of the key employment legislation that applies to recruitment activity.

You will be comfortable advising managers and other stakeholders, explaining processes clearly and handling queries that may be complex or sensitive. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload effectively.

You will also be confident using IT systems to process requests and collate, check and interpret workforce or recruitment data. Experience of supporting projects, implementing new processes or contributing to service improvements would be particularly valuable.

Most importantly, you will work collaboratively, handle personal information with appropriate confidentiality and demonstrate our values by achieving as a team, working with ambition and showing everyone respect.

About Us

You'll join a busy, friendly and supportive team, where the work is varied and interesting. We work closely together, sharing knowledge and supporting each other through day-to-day challenges. With a mix of recruitment and HR activity, there's plenty of opportunity to build your experience and get involved in different aspects of our work.
