The role

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

As Manager for Energy Contracts and Asset Management, you will guide, orchestrate, and optimize strategic, complex programs across EMEA and globally. Serving as an advanced subject-matter expert and advocate to executive stakeholders, you will align leadership on portfolio direction and drive programs that directly impact Google's energy portfolio scale.

Your mission spans two interconnected mandates program strategy and asset delivery to build team vision, address significant portfolio challenges, and align leadership to maximize returns. Operational Architecture and leadership to establish continuous improvement systems, lead AI/ML automation at scale, and coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing program team.

By translating ambiguous organizational goals into clear, delegatable workstreams, you will enhance productivity, foster innovation, and build vital cross-functional alliances.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities
  • Lead program charters across EMEA energy contracts, utility tariffs, and CFE agreements, translating strategic goals into clear objectives. Establish performance measurement frameworks and regular review cadences to drive efficiency and track success organization-wide.
  • Leverage AI/ML best practices to automate complex workflows, scale operations, and accelerate strategic outcomes.
  • Own portfolio metrics to inform executive decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and capture economies of scale. Oversee schedules, budgets, and contract amendments for power assets across European markets, mitigating regulatory and operational risks.
  • Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of program managers while supporting career growth.
  • Form cross-functional strategic alliances, align leadership on key communications, and advocate for program resources globally.
