The role

About the Job

Games Workshop has a new opportunity for a Technical Designer to join our studio design team to help ensure the technical excellence of all Warhammer 40,000 rules. This is a critical role where you will be responsible for establishing quality standards by developing tools to improve efficiency, and ensuring the mathematical and logical robustness of our game mechanics.
Deeply passionate about the Warhammer 40,000 game system, as Technical Designer, you will be responsible for the technical accuracy and integrity of our rules across all publications, from Battletomes to balance updates to the Core Rules. This role is part rules editor, part tools developer, and part rules writer. You will develop and maintain points and efficiency calculations, create automated testing and validation tools, and work hand in hand with games developers and editors to create products of exceptional quality.
Naturally curious and proactive, you will be expected to continually drive quality improvements in our rules, develop and contribute to our rules standards, and collaborate with the rest of the design team to ensure the clarity and precision of all rules text. Your work will be crucial in ensuring a fair, balanced, and enjoyable experience for players worldwide.
Highly organised and adaptable, we'll look to you to collaborate with Rules Designers and Editors as you integrate technical solutions and best practice into the rules writing process.
We're looking for individuals who are self-motivated, who have a deep understanding of Warhammer 40,000, can communicate complex mechanics with absolute clarity, and have an exceptional attention to detail and a highly analytical mind.
If you have the drive, passion, and skill to help ensure the Warhammer 40,000 game system is the most robust and well-written it can be, we'd love to hear from you!
