You'll be pragmatic, commercially minded and comfortable turning complex sustainability challenges into practical solutions. You'll be collaborative, organised and confident working across different teams and locations, with a genuine interest in driving environmental improvement.

As a key member of the Sustainability & ESG team, you will help drive our Net Zero commitments, climate transition objectives, environmental reporting and wider sustainability programme.

Depending on experience, there is scope to appoint at Senior Manager level.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the implementation and continued development of the firm's climate and Net Zero strategy, including action plans and decarbonisation roadmaps.
  • Drive progress against climate commitments and emissions reduction targets, covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Lead environmental initiatives across areas such as energy, sustainable travel, waste, procurement and workplace sustainability.
  • Manage the firm's greenhouse gas inventory, carbon reporting and environmental data, ensuring robust data quality and reporting.
  • Support sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements, including CDP, EcoVadis, ISO standards and relevant UK and European requirements.
  • Work with Procurement, suppliers and operational teams to improve environmental performance across the firm and its supply chain.
  • Monitor emerging climate regulation, environmental risks and market developments.
  • Produce reports, dashboards and briefings for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Build engagement with environmental initiatives across our European offices through communications, training and awareness activity.
  • Act as a trusted internal adviser on climate and environmental matters.

What we're looking for

You will have strong experience in climate change, environmental sustainability, ESG or corporate sustainability, ideally gained within professional services, legal, financial services or another complex corporate environment.

You will also bring

  • Strong knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Experience delivering climate, Net Zero or environmental sustainability programmes.
  • Experience managing sustainability data and reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of climate-related regulation and sustainability reporting requirements across the UK and Europe.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to translate complex sustainability topics into clear and practical business recommendations.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis capability.

Experience of SBTi, CDP, EcoVadis, environmental management systems, ISO 14001, CSRD, ISSB, TCFD or the GHG Protocol would be advantageous, as would a relevant professional sustainability or environmental qualification such as IEMA.

Who are we looking for?

  • We don't have a type. We believe our differences are our strengths; varied cultures, approaches and experiences can only benefit us.

What do we offer?

  • You can be yourself: It takes everyone to make us who we are. We're a culture of diverse perspectives, with each of us making unique contributions that make us better together.
  • In the office or WFH?: We think the best balance is more time in the office than at home, so we operate a 60:40 rule.
  • Beyond salary: We offer plenty of benefits; private medical insurance, health cash plan, dental insurance, life assurance, critical illness insurance, matched pension contributions up to 7%, holiday trading, plus many more. Visit: Reward & Benefits ¦ Fieldfisher.
  • Come for the WOW views: Riverbank House is in the City, just next to London Bridge with stunning views of The Shard and Tower Bridge. It's a short walk from Monument/Bank.
  • Nurturing your talent: Take a 'build a career' approach to your training. You'll be on a pathway but free to wander if you see something you'd like to study more closely.
  • Funnel your interests: You have a life outside work, and we can help it to flourish. Join clubs, affinity networks, inclusive events, and pro bono/charity initiatives.

In addition to UK, China and Silicon Valley we have offices in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

With 28 offices across 14 countries, we work collaboratively with each of our offices to ensure our clients receive the best advice and support. You might expect an impersonal office culture, but you will find a homely, family feel even in the largest offices.

Quality on both sides
Across all our offices and jurisdictions are market-leading practices in corporate/M&A, finance, real estate, energy and natural resources, technology and life sciences.

We count as clients large corporations including major technology firms, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, energy suppliers, infrastructure companies, global banks and financial institutions.

We aim to ensure equality of opportunity and are actively working towards improving the diversity of our staff. Applications will be considered on merit and the applicant's suitability to meet the requirements of the role.
