The role

Help shape a safeguarding culture where people's rights, voices and lives truly matter.

For 50 years, Dimensions has supported adults with learning disabilities and autistic people to live with greater choice, control and independence. Everything we do is rooted in our vision of better lives for more people, and safeguarding is fundamental to making that vision a reality.

We are now seeking an independent Safeguarding Panel Chair to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our strategy.

About the role

The Safeguarding Panel is a key part of Dimensions' governance framework. It provides oversight of safeguarding practice across the Group, scrutinises performance, identifies emerging risks and ensures that safeguarding responsibilities remain embedded in every aspect of organisational life.

As Chair, you will provide independent leadership, constructive challenge and strategic oversight. You will lead the Panel in holding the organisation to account for the effectiveness of its safeguarding arrangements and in providing assurance to the Group Board, subsidiary Boards and Quality & Practice Committee that safeguarding systems, culture and practice are robust, person-centred and effective.

This is not simply a governance role. It is an opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, champion learning and improvement, and help ensure the people we support remain at the heart of everything we do. Occasional visits and engagement with people we support and colleagues will form an important part of the role.

The person we're looking for

We are looking for someone with substantial safeguarding expertise at a senior operational, strategic or governance level, ideally gained within social care, health or another highly regulated environment.

Equally important is who you are.

You will be someone who:

  • Shares our vision of better lives for more people
  • Lives and promotes our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect
  • Is passionate about protecting rights, promoting dignity and improving outcomes for people in vulnerable circumstances
  • Understands the importance of effective governance, assurance and accountability
  • Is able to provide robust challenge while building positive and constructive relationships
  • Brings sound judgement, independence and integrity
  • Creates an environment where all voices are heard and valued
  • Is committed to equality, inclusion and amplifying lived experience in decision-making

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring their whole self to governance. Your professional expertise matters, but so do your values, life experiences and commitment to helping people live full and meaningful lives.

Practical details

  • Time commitment: Approximately 12-15 days per year
  • Term: 3 years
  • Remuneration: £6,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses

Dimensions is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and we particularly welcome applications from people who are currently underrepresented in governance roles.

Interested?

If this opportunity aligns with both your experience and your values, we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 12th Oct 2026
Virtual Interviews: 5th Nov (expert by experience panel); 6th or 9th Nov (management panel)

For an informal chat with Rhoda Iranloye (Chief Quality Governance & Lived Experience Officer) before you submit an application, contact details are provided in the attached recruitment brief.
