Salary: between £47,333.52 - £53,660.88 pa DOE

Not everyone wants an early start. If a later shift and a three-day weekend work better for you, this could be the HGV Technician role you've been looking for.

We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join Dennis Eagle in Bexley, working a four-day late shift, Monday to Thursday.

You'll maintain, diagnose and repair specialist refuse collection vehicles, working across commercial vehicle servicing, HGV repairs, fault finding, electronics and hydraulics.

Whether you know the job as HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician, we're interested in the technical experience you can bring.

And when Thursday night's shift is finished, your three-day weekend starts.

🔧 What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out HGV and commercial vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs
  • Diagnosing faults across chassis and specialist mounted equipment
  • Finding and resolving mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT inspection and completing quality checks
  • Carrying out body and chassis repairs when required
  • Completing scheduled vehicle maintenance
  • Using workshop systems to accurately record completed work
  • Road testing vehicles when required and appropriately licensed
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service

🛠️ What we're looking for

You'll need:

  • Experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing
  • Previous experience in an HGV, heavy vehicle or similar technician role
  • A Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance, such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • An understanding of vehicle electronics and hydraulics
  • The ability to read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Practical problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate records

Experience maintaining refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) or working with electric vehicles would be useful, but isn't essential.

An HGV Class 2 licence, IRTEC accreditation or training in Volvo Tech Tool or Allison transmission would also be useful rather than essential.

You don't need to tick every desirable box. If you have solid commercial vehicle experience and the core technical skills we're looking for, we'd encourage you to apply.

🌙 A shift that gives you three days back

This isn't your typical Monday-to-Friday workshop pattern.

You'll work 45 hours per week between 12:00pm and 12:00am, Monday to Thursday, giving you Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.

The later start could be a great fit if you prefer afternoons and evenings, want to avoid the traditional morning shift or value having a regular three-day weekend.

Please make sure the late-shift hours and journey to our Bexley site work for you before applying.
