Our Technical Year in Industry Placement at Cranswick Gourmet Pastry offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience within one of the UK's leading food manufacturing businesses. This varied placement will provide a strong foundation in all aspects of food safety, quality and technical management.

Working alongside experienced Technical, Quality and Operational teams, you'll gain first-hand experience of food safety systems, customer requirements, product quality, audits and compliance, while developing the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the food industry. Based at our Gourmet Pastry site, you'll play a key role in helping us deliver premium products to major UK retailers while gaining exposure to the many functions that support a modern food manufacturing business.

About the Food Technical Graduate Programme

As a Technical Placement Student, you'll gain hands-on experience across all areas of a modern food manufacturing technical function. Working alongside experienced Technical, Quality and Operational teams, you'll develop an understanding of how safe, legal and high-quality products are produced, while gaining valuable insight into the journey from farm to fork.

• Food Safety & Quality - supporting the systems and processes that ensure products meet the highest food safety and quality standards.
• Customer & Retailer Requirements - helping to ensure products meet customer specifications and compliance standards.
• Auditing & Compliance - participating in internal audits, factory inspections and continuous improvement activities.
• Product & Process Evaluation - assisting with product assessments, investigations and quality monitoring across the manufacturing process.
• Technical Projects - supporting real business projects focused on quality, innovation and operational excellence.

This placement is designed to provide a broad understanding of food manufacturing and technical management, giving you a strong foundation for a future career in the food industry.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for enthusiastic and inquisitive students studying a Food Science or related degree who are keen to learn and build a career in the food industry. You'll have strong attention to detail, enjoy solving problems, and be confident working with a range of teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
