The role

We are innovative!
That's why we need people like you to help us. People who enjoy finding new ways to solve problems and get things done.

We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team supporting our Southern Water contract. This is an excellent opportunity to use your expertise in a hands-on role, partnering with operational teams to promote safe working practices, support colleague wellbeing and drive continuous improvement across a key water sector contract.

This is not a desk-based role. You'll be out on site, building relationships, providing practical advice and helping teams deliver work safely and efficiently. This role will be covering Hampshire and West Sussex.

What you'll do

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in...

  • Carrying out site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
  • Providing professional Health and Safety advice and support to colleagues at all levels across the business.
  • Advising operational teams, supporting the delivery of safety objectives and promoting best practice.
  • Supporting accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Contributing Health & Safety input into tenders, bids and operational planning.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve Health, Safety and Wellbeing systems, processes and performance.
  • Promoting proactive hazard reporting and positive safety behaviours across operational teams.
  • Supporting compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company procedures.

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate...

You have significant experience in a Health & Safety advisory role and enjoy working closely with operational teams to provide practical, solutions-focused support. You'll have a sound working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and its application within a construction, utilities, water or civil engineering environment, together with an understanding of environmental impacts and the importance of health and wellbeing in creating a positive safety culture.

You'll be confident influencing and supporting colleagues at all levels, promoting best practice and helping teams meet their legal Health, Safety and Wellbeing responsibilities.

What Next

You apply, and we respond within two weeks (we know how annoying it is not to hear anything back)! If you don't receive feedback within that timescale, please don't be afraid to chase us - one of our values is to do what we say we will do!
