The role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Full Stack Developer to lead the delivery of multiple software products across Auto.Works, an innovative vehicle imaging technology company, and an exciting new AI-focused startup building an ecosystem of intelligent, data-driven products.

This is more than a traditional development role. You will be responsible for designing, building and delivering modern software products from concept to production while leveraging the latest AI development tools to significantly accelerate software engineering, testing and deployment.

You will work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy to define technical direction, establish best practices and ensure every platform is secure, scalable, resilient and built to enterprise standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, embraces emerging AI technologies, and wants to shape the future of intelligent software products.

What you'll do

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple web-based products across Auto.Works and affiliated ventures.
  • Design, develop and maintain modern full stack applications from concept through to production.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Deliver high-quality software within agreed timescales while maintaining engineering excellence.
  • Own the software development lifecycle including planning, architecture, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • Utilise AI development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code and other emerging technologies to accelerate software development.
  • Develop AI-assisted engineering workflows that improve productivity, code quality and testing.
  • Build automated development pipelines that reduce time-to-market while maintaining robust engineering standards.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into products where they deliver meaningful customer value.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
  • Define scalable software architecture across multiple products.
  • Establish coding standards, documentation standards and engineering best practices.
  • Make strategic technology decisions balancing speed, cost, maintainability and long-term scalability.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design, build and manage cloud infrastructure.
  • Configure CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing and deployment.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code where appropriate.
  • Monitor platform performance, uptime and reliability.
  • Optimise cloud costs without compromising scalability or performance.
  • Take ownership of platform security across all products.
  • Ensure applications are secure by design and follow modern security principles.
  • Implement authentication, authorisation and access management.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and relevant security standards.
  • Conduct regular security reviews, vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
  • Support penetration testing and ongoing compliance initiatives.
  • Work alongside the Director of Digital Strategy to maintain governance and risk management across the product portfolio.
  • Work closely with product owners, designers and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in product strategy and roadmap planning.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative and high-performing engineering culture.

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will:

  • Think strategically while remaining highly hands-on.
  • Be naturally curious about emerging technologies.
  • Enjoy solving complex technical problems.
  • Be comfortable working in fast-moving startup environments.
  • Take ownership and accountability for delivery.
  • Communicate effectively across technical and commercial teams.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Balance innovation with pragmatism.
  • Demonstrate a continuous learning mindset.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 12 months you will have:

Successfully delivered multiple production-ready software products.

Established an AI-first engineering workflow that significantly reduces development and testing time.

Built secure, scalable cloud infrastructure capable of supporting future growth.
