Your responsibilities will include

  • Producing asphalt for both delivered and collect markets, in line with production requirements.
  • Operating mobile plant and fixed plant safely and efficiently.
  • Carrying out general operative duties and maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the asphalt plant.
  • Taking responsibility for your own Health and Safety and that of colleagues, visitors and others on site.
  • Maintaining stock bays and depot roadways to ensure the site remains safe, tidy and well organised.
  • Carrying out regular plant checks, greasing and basic maintenance, and reporting defects promptly.
  • Helping to organise plant maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Complying with all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Providing relief weighbridge cover when required, including weighing vehicles in and out.
  • Supporting stock inventories and completing daily reporting in line with PACS requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain production efficiency and meet operational demands.
  • Supporting general depot activities and carrying out other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the site.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is practical, flexible and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.

You'll take pride in your work, understand the importance of safe working practices and be willing to develop your skills across a range of plant and depot operations.

Essential

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible, reliable and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • The ability to work effectively in a busy production environment.
  • A willingness to undertake training and develop new skills.
  • A proactive approach to maintaining plant, equipment and site housekeeping standards.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in an asphalt, aggregates or similar production environment.
  • Experience operating mobile plant and fixed plant.
  • An NVQ or recognised qualification in wheeled loader operation.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, maintenance experience or practical fitting skills.
  • Experience with weighbridge operations, stock control or production reporting.
  • An understanding of industry Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Training will be provided where required, including a full training package for the successful applicant to develop the necessary plant operating skills.

This is a great opportunity to join an established Asphalt and Aggregates Depot team in a varied, hands-on role where you can build your experience across asphalt production, mobile plant operation, maintenance and depot operations.
