Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join the Urgent Community Response (UCR) service as a Bank Urgent Community Response Support Worker. This is a Bank Level 2, zero-hours role, supporting the delivery of safe and effective care to patients in their own homes and community settings across Birmingham.

Working as part of the UCR team, you will support the prevention of inappropriate hospital admissions and the delivery of home-based treatment. You will provide practical support, including personal care, and assist senior healthcare professionals in meeting patients' acute care needs.

Shift pattern - 22:00-08:00

You will work under the guidance of a senior healthcare professional and within your agreed level of competence. The role also involves accompanying clinicians during community visits, supporting lone-working safety and responding appropriately to identified risks.

Main duties of the job

As a Bank UCR Support Worker, you will carry out care and interventions under the direction of a registered professional, including assisting with personal care and the manual handling of patients. You will also prepare equipment and the care environment, helping to ensure appropriate cleanliness and infection prevention standards are maintained.

You will accompany clinicians during home visits where required to support personal safety and reduce lone-working risks. This may include visits where there are known concerns relating to challenging behaviour, the environment or safeguarding.

You will observe patients and promptly report any changes in their condition to the UCR clinician. You will also be expected to identify and report incidents, near misses and safety concerns and take appropriate action where there may be risks to a patient.

Maintaining patients' dignity, respecting their wishes and beliefs and communicating effectively with patients, carers, colleagues and other stakeholders are important aspects of this role.
