The role

Gladman Developments are the UK's most active and successful land promoter based in Congleton, Cheshire. We believe in using our expertise to partner with landowners to help them to realise the true potential of their land through its development for residential or residential led mixed-use development.

This is a superb opportunity for a graduate with - or nearing completion of - an RTPI accredited degree, to kick start a career in planning as part of our successful business. We will also accept applications from Human Geography graduates who are willing to undertake a part-time master's degree in Planning, typically at The University of Manchester.

This is an incredible opportunity to join our in-house team of experienced land and planning professionals, working on a country-wide portfolio of projects. We'll welcome you and the qualities you bring, and you'll be supported to develop in your role. You'll be rewarded with further opportunities as you grow your career with us.

As a Graduate Planner, you will support the planning team with the progression of sites through the planning application and Local Plan promotion process.

Your overall aim will be to help the business in achieving its targets for planning permissions and securing allocations in Local Plans by supporting and working within the planning team.

Your duties will include

  • Undertaking research to support planning applications and promoting sites to Local Planning Authorities, including 5YHLS, settlement analysis, policy analysis, site design, planning statements, socio-economic impacts
  • Evaluating the planning prospects of potential development sites by working with the Land team, including securing new development opportunities in line with company protocol through the site search, appraisal, and planning pack processes
  • Master planning and assisting in site design
  • Attending meetings and interviews with prospective landowners and agents to secure new sites
  • Monitoring planning applications and changes in local planning and national planning policies
  • Supporting the authoring of representations to Local or Neighbourhood Plan consultations
