The role
HS2 Ltd has appointed Ferrovial Construction / BAM Nuttall JV (FBRS JV) to deliver almost 140 miles of high-speed railway track between London and the West Midlands.
As the Track Systems Contractor, the JV is responsible for the design, construction, logistics, testing and commissioning of a fully integrated track system across the HS2 Phase One route. This includes the delivery of ballastless track systems, rail installation, precast and in-situ track slabs, and the Infrastructure Maintenance Depot at Calvert.
HS2 is the largest transport infrastructure project undertaken in the UK for a generation, creating additional capacity on the rail network whilst enabling faster and more reliable journeys between major UK cities. This role will support the delivery of the Track North section of the programme as it enters a significant phase of procurement and delivery, with multiple new supply chain contracts and design packages being mobilised.
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Track North Commercial Team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of the project, supporting the administration of the main contract and a growing portfolio of supply chain contacts. Working within a collaborative project environment, you will help ensure effective contract administration, robust cost control, proactive management of change, and accurate commercial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes whilst developing experience across major design, construction and rail systems contracts.
What you'll do
- Support the commercial management of the Track North portfolio, including cost control, forecasting and reporting.
- Administer the main contract and supply chain agreements in accordance with contractual and governance requirements.
- Manage commercial change, including compensation events, variations and value recovery activities.
- Support procurement activities, tender evaluations and subcontract management.
- Assess applications for payment and maintain accurate commercial records.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, providing clear advice to project stakeholders.
- Build effective working relationships with project teams, clients and supply chain partners whilst protecting the JV's commercial position.
Making Possible
You will join a growing commercial team supporting a high-profile national infrastructure programme at a critical stage of delivery. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key commercial activities, work alongside experienced industry professionals, and develop your career within one of the UK's largest and most complex engineering projects.
