The role

Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to join our team on the ASTI Netherton Project in Aberdeen.

As Logistics Manager, you will take ownership of the development, coordination and day-to-day delivery of the project's site logistics plan. Working closely with the Project Director, Project Manager and wider site delivery team, you will ensure that people, materials, plant and equipment can move safely and efficiently around the project.

You will manage key logistical activities including site deliveries, cranes, lifting interfaces, traffic management and traffic marshals, while coordinating subcontractors and the supply chain to support the construction programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction logistics professional who thrives in a busy project environment and can provide strong leadership while maintaining the highest standards of safety, organisation and delivery.

What you'll do

As Logistics Manager, you will:

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day delivery and coordination of the project logistics plan.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage site logistics including cranes, site deliveries, traffic movements, traffic marshals and associated logistical requirements.
  • Work closely with the project delivery team to ensure logistics activities support the overall construction programme.
  • Lead and coordinate the logistics team, ensuring individuals are appropriately inducted, briefed and understand their responsibilities.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring attendance, progress and performance while ensuring logistical and contractual requirements are met.
  • Develop and monitor short-term programmes and plans to support effective site operations and upcoming construction activities.
  • Coordinate the movement and availability of materials, resources, plant and supply chain activity to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide clear updates on logistics performance and upcoming requirements.
  • Support daily Short Interval Control (SIC) and weekly project meetings, identifying potential constraints before they impact delivery.
  • Deliver regular Toolbox Talks and promote effective communication across the logistics and site teams.
  • Maintain a relentless focus on Zero Harm, leading by example and promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Take responsibility for health, safety and welfare within your area of control, including employees, subcontractors, supply chain partners and members of the public.
  • Carry out periodic Safety and Environmental Tours and support accident and incident investigations where required.
  • Lead logistics-related risk reviews, identify appropriate mitigations and ensure actions are progressed.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Health & Safety management systems and implement improvements where appropriate.
  • Ensure site audits are undertaken and appropriate actions are taken in response to findings.
  • Monitor performance against project targets and KPIs and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider project team to identify any potential programme, specification, financial or logistical risks.
  • Understand the commercial implications of logistics decisions and work closely with the commercial and delivery teams to support efficient project delivery.
  • Support the project's sustainability objectives and look for opportunities to improve the efficiency of site logistics.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced and proactive construction professional with a proven track record of managing site logistics within a construction or construction-related environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Logistics Manager, Site Logistics Manager or in a similar construction logistics position.
  • Strong experience developing, coordinating and delivering construction site logistics plans.
  • Experience coordinating site deliveries, plant, cranes, traffic management and material movements within an active construction environment.
  • Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • The ability to effectively plan logistics requirements around construction programmes and site activities.
  • Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and its practical application on construction sites.
  • The ability to understand method statements and safe systems of work and support others in their preparation and implementation.
  • Experience or understanding of accident and incident investigation principles.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a demanding site environment.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the confidence to make informed decisions and resolve logistical challenges.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how effective logistics can contribute to project cost, productivity and programme performance.
  • The ability to work independently, manage your own time and take ownership of outcomes.
  • CSCS Card and SMSTS qualification.
  • Willingness to obtain a First Aid qualification if not already held.

Above all, you'll be a visible and proactive leader who can anticipate the logistical demands of a complex construction project and ensure the site operates safely, efficiently and in support of the wider programme.
