About the role
At Asda Foundation, we're passionate about supporting communities and helping local organisations make a positive difference.
As an Asda Foundation Coordinator, you'll play an important role in delivering our grant programmes, supporting community organisations across the UK and building strong relationships with Asda colleagues and Community and Customer Champions.
You'll coordinate and assess grant applications from initial application through to award, making sure funding is distributed accurately, consistently and in line with our grant criteria. But the role goes beyond grant administration. You'll develop relationships with stores and community organisations; understand the difference our funding is making and help us bring that impact to life through great stories and case studies.
You'll join a collaborative team and can contribute to the continued development of Asda Foundation, helping us improve how we work and how we support communities across the UK.
What you'll be responsible for
- Coordinating the end-to-end administration of Asda Foundation grant programmes, ensuring applications are assessed and processed accurately and consistently.
- Reviewing grant applications against agreed criteria and carrying out appropriate checks to support effective funding decisions.
- Managing relationships with Community and Customer Champions and store colleague, providing advice and guidance on Foundation programmes.
- Acting as a key point of contact for community groups and charities, providing a helpful and professional experience throughout their relationship with Asda Foundation.
- Developing a strong understanding of the communities and funded projects, identifying opportunities to share learning and best practice.
- Following up with funded organisations to understand the difference grants have made and help demonstrate the impact of Foundation funding.
- Identifying strong stories and case studies and working with colleagues to bring these to life through internal and external Foundation communications.
- Maintaining accurate grant and organisation records and supporting effective reporting on Foundation activity.
- Working collaboratively across the Foundation and wider Asda business to deliver campaigns, funding programmes and community activity.
- Supporting the continuous improvement and digitalisation of our processes, identifying opportunities to make them simpler and more effective.
- Contributing to new Foundation projects and priorities as our programmes and approach continue to develop.
What makes a brilliant Foundation Coordinator
Community focused: You're genuinely interested in communities and understand the difference that charities, community organisations and local volunteers can make.
Great with people: You're comfortable building relationships with lots of different people, from store colleagues and Community and Customer Champions to charities and community organisations.
Organised and accurate: You can manage a busy workload, keep track of competing priorities and deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
A confident communicator: You communicate clearly and positively, whether you're writing an email, speaking on the phone or presenting information.
Curious about impact: You're interested in understanding what difference funding has made, asking the right questions and identifying stories that bring that impact to life.
Comfortable making decisions: You can review information objectively, apply criteria consistently and use good judgement when something requires further investigation.
Always looking for better: You're comfortable with change and enjoy finding simpler, more effective ways of doing things.
A team player: You enjoy collaborating and sharing ideas, but you're equally comfortable taking ownership of your own workload and seeing things through.
What you'll bring

- Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with processes, criteria and data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of building positive relationships with customers, colleagues, partners or external organisations.
- Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Good judgement and the ability to handle information professionally and appropriately.
- An interest in charities, community development, grant-making or social impact.
- Experience working with community organisations, grants or the charity sector would be useful, but isn't essential.
