What you'll do

  • Lead the Data Quality team to ensure that data integrity risks are identified and remediated, and that data quality KPIs are defined and pro-actively monitored.
  • Lead the definition and implementation of the data governance regime, including ways of working, policies, standards and procedures, ensuring alignment with the Banks goals and objectives.
  • Formalise and embed the new operating model for data ownership and stewardship, collaborating with and mentoring data owners and stewards to promote accountability for data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Work with IT and business teams to implement practical data governance solutions and embed governance into routine processes.
  • Develop a metric-based monitoring approach to Data Governance, to track progress, adoption and maturity.
  • Ensure data management practices comply with relevant laws and regulatory frameworks, such as GDPR, Data Protection Act, FCA/PRA regulation.
  • Promote better use and management of data and improving data literacy across the organisation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, advocating for robust governance across business and IT functions.
  • Present data governance updates, challenges, and risks to governance forums.
  • Manage data risks and issues, coordinating with data owners and risk management teams to resolve or accept them.
  • Stay informed on emerging data-related regulations and perform horizon scanning to assess their impact.

Job Purpose

Working closely with the wider data team, engineers, analysts, compliance, and business functions to ensure data is governed, understood, and fit for purpose across its lifecycle, the role will lead the development and embedding of an enhanced data governance regime, evolving our current approach into a more mature, structured and fully embedded operating model (including data ownership and active stewardship engagement).

Furthermore this role will manage and extend our internal Data Quality function, ensuring issues are identified and remediated with minimal impact on the business, or our clients.

To place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.
