The role

The C++ Language team at Apple is looking for an intern to help advance Swift/C++ interoperability – an integral part of Apple’s effort to migrate more software from C++ to Swift. The position provides the opportunity to learn and make changes to the Swift compiler, with most of the work happening in the open source.

In this position, you will contribute to the evolution and development of Swift/C++ interoperability, a capability of the Swift compiler that enables mixing C++ and Swift within a single codebase. You will take part in the development bleeding edge features that enhance memory safety, performance, and ergonomics of language interoperation. You will learn many of the inner workings of the compiler and apply them in practice within a shipping compiler with an enormous user base.

You will work with the open source community and contribute to the Swift open source project. Here you’ll also find that we have a supportive and tight-knit team that provides technical guidance, software architectural review, and mentorship to help you grow and get valuable industry experience.

The position is based onsite at Apple's campus in London. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in compiler and programming languages, passionate about working on challenging problems in this area and developing practical solutions.
