The role

We are looking for an Internal Audit Senior Specialist to join our specialist FinCrime team within Wise Internal Audit. The FinCrime team has a global remit and works collaboratively with regional audit teams.

Your main focus will be completing FinCrime audits at Wise. You will contribute to the planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up of audits, and make recommendations to improve governance, risk management and internal controls. Your responsibilities will vary audit-to-audit and will include contributing to the development of the audit test plan, owning the execution of testing for specific scope areas, and completing issue validation testing.

The role presents a great opportunity to focus on the development and delivery of audit engagements in a fast-paced environment, focussed on data-driven and innovative audit techniques. Strong knowledge of FinCrime processes is key to being successful in this role, complemented by experience in audit, assurance, risk, compliance or control testing. Knowledge of deploying data-driven or technology-enabled assurance to drive the internal audit agenda is highly valued, but this can be taught to the right candidate.

What you'll do

  • Support the execution of audit engagements per the audit plan, ensuring timely and high-quality audit outcomes.

  • Contribute to audit planning, including development of test plans, and take ownership to independently deliver design and operational effectiveness testing for specific scope areas.

  • Develop deep FinCrime technical expertise across regulatory requirements, risks and typologies, processes, systems, and controls, applying technical insight to elevate our audit approach.

  • Monitor the implementation of Internal Audit recommendations and measure the effectiveness of the improvements.

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Support the implementation and operation of the internal audit assurance framework, including development of continuous monitoring and automated audit routines.

  • Actively contribute to building a robust and self-sufficient internal audit team.

  • The role is London-based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations.  You will travel as needed to meet your objectives.

Skills

  • You take ownership of your assigned work, and propose solutions to problems. You are able to work independently, and know when to escalate and seek advice.

  • You demonstrate attention to detail but can summarise key messages succinctly, verbally and in writing, adjusting your style and level of information based on the target audience.

  • You have strong coordination skills and you are able to hold yourself accountable for meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs.

  • You seek to use data analytics and technology in your work and to inform your decision-making.

  • You communicate with confidence and tact. You can independently drive process walkthroughs with stakeholders, articulate the 'so what' of audit findings, and challenge existing controls constructively.

  • You are agile and adaptable to change.

  • You are passionate about driving change, making improvements and helping stakeholders. You want to continuously improve how to get the job done.

  • You work well in a team and are receptive to feedback and developing new skills.

Experience

  • You have a strong understanding of FinCrime processes and controls.

  • You have proven experience working in audit, assurance, risk, compliance, or control testing roles.

  • You have worked in a regulated environment, such as Fintech or Financial Services.

  • You have worked in a multinational environment across different cultures and countries.

  • Professional qualification a bonus: CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIA/CISA/ICA/ACAMS
