This nationally significant project is helping to protect local communities, businesses and critical infrastructure from coastal flooding while creating a lasting legacy for future generations. As a key member of the project leadership team, you'll play a vital role in delivering complex civil engineering works safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant and right-first-time delivery of construction activities across the project.

You'll lead teams of Foremen, Supervisors, operatives and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the quality standards expected on one of the UK's leading coastal defence schemes.

You'll also be a key interface with the client, stakeholders, supply chain partners and local community, helping maintain the strong reputation of both the project and VolkerStevin.

What you'll do

  • Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontract resources.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Foremen, Supervisors and site teams.
  • Drive workforce engagement, wellbeing and performance.
  • Support short and medium-term planning and construction sequencing.
  • Champion VolkerStevin's Safety Ripple and Quality Ripple initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

  • Lead site inductions, briefings, toolbox talks and workforce communications.
  • Ensure actions arising from inspections and audits are closed out effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, residents, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Manage subcontractor performance against safety, quality and programme requirements.
  • Support risk management through planning meetings, design reviews and early engagement.
  • Monitor project performance and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, programme and cost.
  • Support Project Managers with resource planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Contribute to programme delivery and cost control.
