The role
Retail Marketing Manager
£35,000 basic salary
Are you a commercially minded marketeer who loves turning great campaigns into measurable results?
Would you like to work with award-winning automotive manufacturers and play a key role within one of the UK's largest motor retailers?
We're looking for a Retail Marketing Manager to take marketing ownership for a portfolio of manufacturer franchise dealerships across the South-West and other regions.
This role has responsibility for dealerships located across the South-West and other regions, so regular travel to our dealership locations will be required. There will also be occasional travel to our Head Office in Gateshead.
This is a varied, fast-paced role where you'll bring together dealerships, manufacturer partners and our wider marketing team to deliver campaigns that make a genuine commercial impact. From new vehicle launches and local events to regional campaigns and partnerships, your focus will be on driving customer enquiries, dealership footfall and ultimately vehicle sales.
You'll have plenty of autonomy, so we're looking for someone who can confidently manage multiple campaigns, challenge where needed and turn data and market insight into action.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of retail marketing activity across your franchise portfolio, including:
- Planning, delivering and measuring New Vehicle, Commercial Vehicle and Motability campaigns.
- Developing marketing plans that complement national manufacturer campaigns and wider brand strategy.
- Working closely with General Managers, dealership teams and manufacturer partners to identify opportunities and improve performance.
- Owning monthly and annual franchise marketing budgets, ensuring investment is targeted effectively and delivers against commercial objectives.
- Using enquiry, campaign and market data to understand performance and turn insight into clear actions.
- Leading dealership events and customer retention activity, coordinating stakeholders, communications and point-of-sale materials.
- Working with our in-house Advertising team, Studio and Media Agency partners to develop compelling creative and regional media activity.
- Keeping franchise website content accurate and engaging, including new model launches, campaigns and customer offers.
- Maximising local marketing opportunities including sponsorships, product placements, county shows and dealership events.
- Representing Marketing at divisional and dealership meetings, manufacturer conferences and other key business forums.
- Acting as an important link between our central Marketing function and operational dealership teams.
What we're looking for
You'll be an organised and commercially focused marketeer who is comfortable taking ownership and managing multiple priorities.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Experience within retail marketing, with a track record of delivering successful campaigns or events.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage several campaigns and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- A commercial mindset, with the confidence to challenge, influence and make recommendations.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using Google Analytics and campaign performance data to improve results.
- Creativity, energy and a proactive approach to solving problems and identifying new opportunities.
- The ability to work effectively and independently when working remotely.
- A professional marketing qualification would be advantageous.
- Experience using project management tools such as Asana would also be beneficial.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel regularly.
Automotive marketing experience would be a real advantage, but it isn't essential. We're equally interested in experienced retail marketeers who understand how to turn customer insight, strong campaigns and local activity into commercial results.
We are proud to be the Motor Retailer who invests more in our colleague's personal development than any other, so if you are successful, you can look forward to on-going training opportunities that provide you with the right career path, career progression and a range of benefits you would expect from an employer of choice which includes:
- 25 days holiday rising with length of service - plus bank holidays
- Access to our online rewards platform giving you cash back and discounts for multiple retailers
- Preferential Service Rates
- Colleague Purchase Scheme
- Share Incentive Scheme
- Pension
- Enhanced Maternity and Paternity
If your application is successful, we will need to complete employment checks prior to you starting with us. Your role will include us verifying your recent employment, credit history and a criminal record check.
