TLC Care is an expanding company whose values of Truth, Love and Compassion underpin our daily work. We are looking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Maintenance Operative who is willing to develop their existing skills to maintain and improve a private home, keeping it in a safe, comfortable and efficient working order to the standards we require.

You will keep our private home safe, comfortable and running beautifully, every day.

A well-run home depends on someone who notices the small things before they become big ones. As our Maintenance Operative, you will be that Operative. You will look after the fabric of the building, its services and its grounds, take pride in how everything looks and works, and be trusted to use your own initiative. This is a role for a practical, reliable and friendly Operative who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a values-led organisation that invests in its team members.

The Role. You will carry out the day-to-day maintenance of the building, its services and its grounds, so that the home is always safe, welcoming and in good working order. You will work independently for much of the time, and will also be a positive, helpful presence when working alongside others. Occasional project work will be required from time to time, such as creating new plant beds or installing land drains.

What You Will Be Doing. Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs across the fabric of the building, including minor electrical, plumbing and joinery work, and general DIY jobs as they arise. Looking after the home's services, including central heating, hot and cold water systems and laundry equipment, and arranging specialist contractors where work is beyond your remit. Carrying out regular safety checks and keeping up to date with current health and safety regulations. Maintaining the grounds, including lawns, shrubs and plant beds, keeping paved and hard standing areas clean, tidy and free of weeds, and clearing leaves, acorns and fallen twigs to avoid staining and uneven lawn growth. Clearing drains and gutters regularly to prevent blockages. Operating and caring for plant and machinery safely. Taking on occasional project work as it arises. Keeping accurate, up to date maintenance records and carrying out general administration.

What We Are Looking For. A special Operative who will preferably have experience in a similar environment, such as a private home, estate, hotel, hospital or care home. General maintenance knowledge of minor electrical, plumbing and joinery work, and a general understanding of current health and safety regulations. Some horticultural or basic grounds maintenance knowledge, and confidence handling plant, machinery and small garden vehicles. An understanding of central heating systems, laundry equipment and hot and cold water systems would be great, although these skills can be developed on the job. The ability to work to your own initiative with real attention to detail, as well as to work well with others. A good level of spoken and written English, as the role requires up to date records and general administration. A driving licence and use of a vehicle is also an important element of the role.

What We Offer. A competitive salary and a good working environment, with excellent training and the opportunity to keep developing your skills. Benefits include a pension scheme, employee discounts at high street retailers and discounted gym memberships. In return, our commitment to you is to show the same truth, love and compassion that guide everything we do.

Our values are Truth, Love and Compassion. If these resonate with you, we would love to hear from you.
