Content Designer - Government / GDS

Inside IR35: £450-£500 per day
Hybrid - 50% on-site in Stratford, London
ASAP - 6 months initial

We are recruiting an experienced Content Designer to support a complex digital programme within a major public-sector body. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will design clear, accessible and user-centred content while helping shape the wider content strategy across end-to-end digital services.

Role responsibilities

• Design clear, accessible content across complex digital services and user journeys.

• Develop content strategies aligned with user needs and organisational objectives.

• Structure information so users can find, understand and act on what they need.

• Use research, analytics and service evidence to inform and improve content.

• Work with product, engineering, legal, marketing and accessibility teams.

• Create, test and iterate content throughout the service-delivery lifecycle.

• Present content decisions clearly and influence stakeholders across the programme.

• Ensure content meets accessibility standards and established government-design principles.

Key experience and requirements

• Previous Content Designer experience within GDS-aligned government or public-sector programmes is essential.

• Strong knowledge of the Government Service Standard and GOV.UK content principles.

• Demonstrable content-strategy and information-architecture expertise.

• Experience designing accessible, user-centred content for complex digital services.

• Experience working across complete user journeys rather than isolated pages.

• Strong understanding of user-centred design and digital-accessibility standards.

• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.

• A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, evidence-led decisions and cross-functional impact
