The role ensures that all drivers receive consistent guidance on safe working practices, legal compliance, and behavioural standards. This role is critical in reducing incidents, improving driver performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a strong safety culture across the fleet.

Deliver classroom, digital, and on‑the‑road training covering:

  • Manual Handling (safe lifting, carrying, load restraint, ergonomic best practice)
  • Driver Behaviour (defensive driving, speed awareness, hazard perception, distraction management)
  • Driver Assessments (practical evaluations, route‑based assessments, corrective coaching)
  • HGV daily walk‑around checks (DVSA standards)
  • Tachograph rules, working time, and drivers' hours compliance
  • Deliver new‑starter induction training for all fleet‑related roles.
  • Provide targeted refresher training following incidents, near misses, or performance concerns.
  • Tailor training to different audiences (multi‑drop van drivers, field engineers, HGV drivers, supervisors).

Ensure all training content aligns with current legislation (DVSA, HSE, Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive).

Conduct audits of driver checks and vehicle condition to ensure compliance with company policy.

Monitor driver behaviours using telematics and intervene where training is required.

Support the Fleet team in maintaining OCRS scores, and overall compliance performance.

Maintain accurate training records for audit and insurance purposes.
