The role
Seasalt began in 1981 with a small shop in Penzance, selling workwear to local mariners and practical overalls to artists. Today, we've grown into a thriving omnichannel retailer with over 80 UK and Ireland stores, 400+ wholesale stockists, and a growing international and online footprint.
As a B Corp and winner of both Drapers "Best Place to Work" and CIPD's "Best Recognition Programme", we care deeply about our people, our communities and our long-term impact. Our Head Office teams provide the foundations that empower our people to drive sustainable growth across the UK and international markets.
What you'll do
As our Tax and Customs Account, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance in relation to tax and customs financial regulatory requirements. You'll provide support for general tax advisory services and assist with analysis and reports.
Please note this is a full-time, 12 month temporary contract which is based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations (minimum 40% of working week) and remotely within the UK.
You'll help us by:
Ensuring timely and accurate compliance with UK, Irish and US corporation tax obligations.
Ensuring timely and accurate compliance with UK and Irish VAT obligations and relevant sales taxes across all trading territories, including reviewing and reconciling indirect taxes and ensuring all filings remain compliant.
Ensuring capital allowances and R&D tax credits are optimised, supporting tax audits through the preparation of documentation and responses to tax authority enquiries.
Managing the Customs Analyst to ensure compliance with UK and overseas customs requirements.
Providing Finance and Merchandising with up to date forecasting on customs and duty rate changes to ensure international stock movement decisions are taken with profitability in mind.
Leading contact for custom authorities, customs brokers and other external parties, and supporting the Director of Finance with projects where customs are impacted, resolving issues and facilitating smooth operations.
Providing tax advisory support, leading internal tax and customs reporting, keeping up to date with changes in regulatory developments to ensure ongoing compliance.
Supporting the CFO and Director of Finance with the International Transfer Pricing strategy, including US transfer pricing adjustments, and working with external tax advisers to maintain a tax-efficient organisational structure.
Collaborating with Finance and cross-functionally, such as with Logistics, to forecast accurate corporation tax for budgeting and cash flow impact for UK, Ireland and US entities, and to ensure tax and customs implications are factored into business processes.
Building strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally, and leading a positive team culture through feedback, coaching, performance and encouraging ownership and collaboration.
