The Opportunity

We're working with a leading UK engineering and infrastructure business looking to appoint a Cost Director to join its established cost team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, working closely with senior stakeholders and having a genuine influence on the financial performance of major projects. You'll be involved in complex, high-value infrastructure programmes across the UK, helping strengthen cost management processes, develop the team and support the successful delivery of major projects.

The Role

What you'll do

  • Lead and develop the cost engineering and cost management team.
  • Oversee project budgets, cost forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Manage cost control, estimates at completion (EAC), change control and cost risks.
  • Monitor project performance, identify cost variances and support corrective actions.
  • Report cost performance and forecasts to senior management and clients.
  • Work closely with planning, commercial and project delivery teams to keep projects financially on track.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and drive improvements across the cost function.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong background in cost engineering, cost management or project cost control.
  • Experience leading a team and overseeing cost management activities.
  • Experience across major infrastructure, energy, power or complex capital projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness, forecasting and reporting skills.
  • The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.

What's on Offer?

  • £85,000-£90,000 salary plus car allowance, with flexibility for the right candidate.
  • A senior leadership position with genuine responsibility and scope to make your mark.
  • Exposure to major UK infrastructure projects and complex, high-value programmes.
  • The opportunity to develop a team and influence how cost management is delivered.
  • Strong career development and progression within an established engineering business.

If you're looking for your next senior cost management role, where you can lead a team, take ownership and make a real difference to major projects, this is well worth a conversation.
