The role

Job description

We're transforming Sage from traditional accounting software into an AI-powered financial platform that helps small businesses thrive. Payments and cash flow are at the heart of this journey.

As Group Product Manager for Payments & Fintech, you'll shape how small businesses get paid, manage payments and access capital through Sage. You'll set the product vision, drive delivery and lead a cross-functional team to create smarter, more seamless financial experiences - starting in the UK and Ireland, expanding into Canada, and with global ambitions.

This is a hybrid role, with 3 days working from our Newcastle office.

What you'll do:

Set the strategy: Define and deliver the payments and fintech roadmap across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Access to Capital.

Drive commercial impact: Own portfolio outcomes, growing payments adoption, revenue opportunities and customer retention.

Create better experiences: Use customer insight, experimentation and AI-powered workflows to simplify financial tasks and help customers manage cash flow.

Build for scale: Partner with global platform and engineering teams to develop reusable payment capabilities, APIs and experiences that work across markets.

Lead through influence: Align Product, Engineering, Design, Commerce, Mobile, Marketing and external partners around a shared vision.

Navigate complexity: Balance customer needs, commercial priorities, regulation and local market requirements while maintaining a coherent global platform.

Embrace AI: Use AI tools to accelerate discovery, research and decision-making, with a focus on quality, evidence and responsible use.

Key responsibilities

What you'll bring

Proven product leadership experience in payments, fintech or financial services, ideally across customer-facing products and platform/API capabilities.

A strong commercial mindset, with experience linking product strategy to measurable business outcomes.

The ability to set direction, prioritise decisively and turn strategy into products customers value.

Experience influencing and aligning diverse, cross-functional teams without relying on formal authority.

A customer-led, data-driven approach to discovery, experimentation and product optimisation.

An understanding of the challenges of delivering financial products across different markets, regulations and payment ecosystems.

Confidence using AI to improve product discovery, analysis and delivery, alongside sound judgement and clear communication.

What success looks like:

In your first 12 months, you'll deliver the payments strategy across the UK and Ireland and Canada, grow measurable adoption across payments and cash flow capabilities, strengthen alignment with Sage's global platform teams, and help bring differentiated, AI-powered financial experiences to market.

Ready to help redefine how small businesses manage their money? Join Sage and help build the future of payments and fintech.
