Senior Mechanical Engineer (Methanation)

We're looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of our methanation reactor sub-system, tasked with uncovering new ways of thinking about our system integration, performance, longevity, and manufacturability, all in the name of producing the world's cheapest green synthetic gas. The role

Own the design and manufacture of the methanation reactor sub-system.

At Rivan we ensure that senior technical roles are still very much in the thick of it, working and contributing alongside the rest of the team. As a senior mechanical design engineer within the methanation reactor team you will:

• Own the concept generation, architecting and technical requirements capture
• Design test-rigs to validate underlying hypothesis quickly and effectively
• Own and iterate the design drawings with our inhouse manufacturing team
• Own the assembly, integration, commissioning and test plans of the methanation reactor sub-system
• Liaise with external vendors to support our production line
• Lead and manage the extremely motivated and talented methanation reactor mechanical design team
  • Guide and teach junior team members
  • Lead design reviews
  • Workstream planning

Core skills

• 5+ years professional experience
• Bachelor's or Masters in mechanical/aero or related field
• System design experience including CAD (SolidWorks), design for manufacture/assembly, and part specification and procurement
• Hands on workshop fabrication and build experience
• Fundamental thermofluids understanding, including pressure loss, heat and mass transfer
• Simulation/analytical modelling competency (e.g. python, FEA, CFD)
• Test setup design, running of experiments, and data analysis
• Small team technical leadership, experience managing teams of 2-3 people

• £70-90k Salary depending on experience
