Job description

Lead Veterinary Nurse - Inspire, Support and Grow

The Practice, Chippenham Vets for Pets

We are ideally located with excellent transport connections, close to the M4 and the local train station. The practice benefits from a large on-site car park with free parking for staff and clients.

Our modern, well-equipped surgery features advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, VGels, and multiparameter monitoring systems. These resources enable our clinical team to consistently deliver high standards of veterinary care.

We are committed to supporting our nurses as veterinary professionals, ensuring they have the opportunity to fully develop and utilise their clinical skills. Our structure allows nurses to take ownership of nurse-led clinics and perform Schedule 3 procedures.
Client care is supported by a dedicated team of Client Care Advisors, allowing nurses to focus on clinical responsibilities and patient care. Our established training practice includes a nursing team of six (four RVNs and two VCAs), supported by reception staff and a Practice Manager.

The Role:

This is a first-opinion position covering a wide range of nursing duties, including anaesthetic monitoring, inpatient care, nurse consultations, ordering, and assistance with surgical and medical procedures. There is also opportunity to work alongside visiting orthopaedic and ultrasonography specialists.
We are proud to promote a healthy work-life balance, offering flexible working hours and shift patterns where possible.

This role is 35 hours per week across 4 days, with no out-of-hours or on-call duties and a shared 1 in 4 Saturday rota.

The Candidate:

Ready to take the next step in your nursing career? We're looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team, where you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care, mentoring colleagues, and helping shape the future of our practice. Previous leadership experience would be preferable.

Benefits:

  • Salary up to £36,000 pro-rata, dependent on experience
  • Supportive and friendly team environment
  • Holiday allowance increasing with length of service
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Generous CPD allowance
  • RCVS and BVNA membership fees covered
  • Company discounts and reward schemes

Location: SN14 6RZ
