The role

The Management Accountant produces monthly cost centre reports, prepares departmental budgets and forecasts, reconciles the balance sheet and supports the Club's cash and treasury management. The role leads on all financial matters for Nottingham Forest Women, looks after the Club's expense and credit card system, and helps with regulatory submissions, month-end and the audit.

You will work closely with the finance team and managers across the Club and help improve how we report and control our numbers.

  • Lead monthly meetings with department managers so they understand their monthly and full-year numbers.

  • Work with cost centre managers to prepare their departmental budgets and forecasts.

  • Write clear commentary explaining what has changed against budget, and why.

  • Look at financial data to spot trends, risks and savings, and raise them early.

  • Prepare the daily cash position across all Club bank accounts.

  • Update the rolling cash flow forecast each week and explain any changes from the previous version.

  • Prepare payment runs for approval, making sure every invoice is properly approved before it is paid.

  • Review the daily bank reconciliations and make sure unmatched items are cleared quickly.

  • Track loan and facility balances, interest and repayment dates, and help prepare lender reporting.

  • Manage foreign currency payments and receipts, and keep bank mandates and signatory lists up to date.

  • Report on money owed to the Club and agree on actions on overdue amounts.

  • Post month-end journals, accruals and prepayments for your areas.

  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and clearing any differences quickly.

  • Manage day-to-day finances under the Financial Controllers oversight.

  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, monthly board packs, VAT returns and league financial submissions for review.

  • Prepare payment runs for approval and maintain the player registrations schedule.

  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare audit information.

  • Act as the main finance contact for the Women's Team, escalating significant matters to the Financial Controller.

  • Help prepare the Club's regulatory submissions, such as Premier League financial returns, by providing accurate schedules and data on time.

  • Keep up to date with football finance rules and accounting standards, so the Club stays compliant.

  • Prepare audit schedules and work with the external auditors on the interim and year-end audits, for Nottingham Forest Women and the wider Club, so sign-off happens on time.

  • Own the expenses and company credit card policy and review the claims and card spend processed by the Accounts Assistant.

  • Help keep strong financial controls and suggest and make practical improvements to processes and reporting.

  • Work with other departments, such as commercial, retail, ticketing, HR and legal, to get the right information and keep reporting consistent.

  • Use Excel, Jet Reports and AI tools such as Copilot to make reporting quicker and more accurate.
