The role

In this role you will lead the development and delivery of brand activation across Nationwide's branch network, ensuring branches play a central role in bringing our brand to life for customers and communities. You'll also lead employer brand activity, colleague advocacy and community engagement programmes, creating distinctive experiences that strengthen Nationwide's reputation, engagement and impact across the UK.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll shape and deliver Nationwide's branch activation strategy, ensuring our branch network plays a key role in supporting wider brand, customer and commercial objectives. You'll champion the importance of branches within the broader marketing ecosystem, embedding the channel into integrated campaign planning and creating impactful activation programmes that bring the Nationwide brand to life on the high street.

You'll lead the development of local marketing initiatives and community partnerships, while owning the application of Nationwide's brand across the branch environment to ensure a distinctive, consistent and high-quality customer experience. As a key representative of Brand and Marketing within Branch Transformation activity, you'll help shape future branch formats, propositions and customer experiences.

You'll also take ownership of employer brand activation, bringing Nationwide's purpose, values and colleague experience to life through authentic storytelling and advocacy. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you'll identify opportunities to connect branch activity, colleague stories and community engagement with wider marketing campaigns, social content and PR activity, helping to create a joined-up and consistent brand experience.

Building strong relationships with Retail leaders, Branch Managers and frontline colleagues will be essential to ensure activity reflects operational realities and local customer needs. You'll also lead agency and supplier relationships, manage budgets and performance measurement, and ensure activation programmes are both commercially effective and impactful.

Alongside this, you'll lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team, providing clear direction, coaching and prioritisation while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and delivery excellence.

About you

For this role, we are looking for:

  • Significant experience in branch marketing, retail marketing, and brand activation within a complex organisation
  • Experience leading, developing and motivating high-performing teams, setting clear direction and maintaining high standards of delivery
  • Strong understanding of how physical environments can be used as effective brand, customer and commercial channels
  • Experience developing and delivering activation programmes across large retail, branch or customer-facing networks
  • Strong brand judgement, with the ability to translate customer and commercial insight into effective marketing activity
  • Experience developing local marketing, community engagement or partnership programmes.
  • Understanding of employer brand, colleague advocacy and how colleague experience can strengthen brand reputation
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets and significant programmes of work
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across multiple functions
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Someone who combines strategic thinking with strong delivery capability and a focus on measurable results

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
