The role

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in helping the business manage and understand economic crime risk. Working with teams across fraud, financial crime and risk, you'll support risk assessments, oversee key risk reporting and help ensure risks, issues and control weaknesses are identified, escalated and managed effectively.

You'll provide insight and analysis to support risk profile reviews; track actions linked to control weaknesses and out-of-appetite risks and help drive timely resolution and accountability. You'll also coordinate materials for senior leaders, including the Money Laundering Reporting Officer, support colleagues in using risk systems and processes, and help deliver workshops focused on risk and control mapping.

Building strong relationships across the first and second lines of defence, you'll help promote effective risk management, support compliance with regulatory and policy requirements, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in fraud and financial crime controls.

About you

As a minimum, you'll have:

  • Practical experience of working within a risk and control environment, with a strong understanding of risk management frameworks.

  • Ability to build effective relationships and communicate confidently with a variety of peers and senior stakeholders across the Group.

  • Experience facilitating workshops, with excellent communication skills and the ability to keep complex topics simple, clear and concise.

  • Experience analysing and understanding risks, with the confidence to challenge, advise and support effective decision-making.

  • Demonstrable experience of coaching others and successfully embedding process change.

  • An understanding of economic crime risk and control frameworks, including how component parts are managed and reported.

  • Knowledge of wider financial crime risks, threats and the UK banking or building society landscape.

  • Experience of successfully leading teams or coordinating delivery through others would be beneficial.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
