The role
Up to £35 per completed interview | Location: Wales
A strong incentive will be provided for Welsh speakers to apply.
This role involves talking to people in communities across Wales and helping to ensure their views are heard.
Get paid to discover what people in Wales are thinking and make a difference.
As a Field Interviewer, you will visit people in your local area and conduct research interviews in their homes on matters important to them. You will help public organisations and bodies better understand the experiences, views and needs of people across Wales.
This role is about listening, not selling. Usually, the people you will be visiting will have received a letter in advance, but they may not be expecting you. A key part of the role is explaining why the research is important, making people feel at home and helping them feel comfortable taking part.
Using a NatCen device, you will lead conversations and accurately record responses. Every interview provides valuable information that helps to guide services, transport, policy and community decisions across Wales.
What you'll do
At NatCen, we believe that social research has the power to improve lives. By understanding people's experiences and views, we help ensure that the public has a voice in guiding services, policies and decisions across the UK.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know and we will do our best to support you.
If you would like to help ensure that people across Wales are represented in the decisions that affect their lives, apply today.
All references to employment, bonus payments and working arrangements are based on current projects and typical performance. Individual results may vary.
Training and Support
You will receive full training before conducting interviews on your own, including:
- Shadowing experienced interviewers
- Role play and supervised practice sessions
- Doorstep visits with support
- Regular contact and support after you start working
Who Is Suitable For This Role
This role is suitable for people who enjoy talking to others, who can work independently and who are comfortable approaching people from different backgrounds.
It is very suitable if you have worked in retail, hospitality, administration, driving, sales or in another role involving direct work with customers. No previous research experience is required, as full training will be provided.
Personal Attributes
- Friendly, respectful and professional
- Confident and resilient
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Good at building rapport with people
- Organised and able to manage your time effectively
