Requirements

What we're looking for

Significant experience within Design Management, Engineering Management, or Project Management roles
Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, programmes, and engineering resources
Experience delivering complex engineering or infrastructure projects within regulated industries
Strong understanding of risk management, governance, and engineering compliance requirements
Experience influencing business decisions and managing multiple project priorities
Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Nice to have

Chartered Engineer status or progression towards professional accreditation would be advantageous

Senior Design Manager

Were looking for a Senior Design Manager to lead the delivery of major engineering and infrastructure programmes, ensuring designs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives.

This role will provide strategic leadership across multidisciplinary design teams, helping shape investment decisions and delivering sustainable, customer-focused engineering solutions.

What youll be doing

What you'll do

Leading multidisciplinary design teams to deliver major capital programmes on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
Setting design strategy and direction while ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder requirements
Managing programme resources, budgets, and design delivery schedules
Driving risk management activities, ensuring compliance with governance, legislation, and industry standards
Reviewing and approving engineering solutions, ensuring they deliver value, sustainability, and whole-life cost benefits
Acting as Principal Designer and ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and external partners
Supporting investment and asset management decisions through effective design leadership and technical expertise
Promoting innovation and continuous improvement across engineering and design functions
Developing, mentoring, and coaching engineering teams to build capability and drive high performance
