The role
MERJE is exclusively supporting a leading Wealth Management firm in the appointment of a Senior Financial Crime QA Manager.
This is a senior role within the Financial Crime function, with responsibility for leading a small QA team and developing the firm's 2nd Line Financial Crime Quality Assurance capability.
The business is currently undertaking a Financial Crime remediation programme, including a KYC / high-risk client review.
The successful candidate will initially provide senior oversight of the QA activity supporting this work, managing the team and ensuring testing is consistent, effective and delivers meaningful outcomes.
Alongside the remediation activity, a major part of the role will be to design, develop and embed the wider Financial Crime QA framework.
This will involve establishing appropriate testing methodologies and standards, assessing the effectiveness of Financial Crime controls, identifying recurring issues and root causes, and ensuring findings translate into practical improvements.
The assurance remit will extend beyond KYC and cover the wider Financial Crime framework, including areas such as CDD, high-risk clients, customer screening, AML, sanctions, Transaction Monitoring, ABC and other Financial Crime controls.
This is not an individual contributor role. You will manage and provide technical leadership to a small QA team while working closely with senior stakeholders across Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, Operations and the wider business.
What we're looking for:
- Extensive experience within Financial Crime QA, Assurance or Controls Testing
- Strong 2nd Line Financial Crime experience
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Experience designing, building or materially enhancing Financial Crime QA frameworks and testing methodologies
- Broad Financial Crime knowledge across multiple risk areas rather than purely KYC
- Strong understanding of the UK Financial Crime regulatory and control environment
- Experience assessing control design and effectiveness, identifying root causes and driving improvements
- Excellent senior stakeholder management skills and the confidence to provide credible challenge
- Previous experience operating at a senior Financial Crime management level
Experience within Wealth Management, Private Banking or Financial Planning is highly desired.
Also, having experience supporting a remediation, regulatory review or Financial Crime transformation programme would also be highly beneficial.
Package
Salary: £120,000 per annum
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Location: London - 3 days per week in the office
As a fixed-term employee, you will receive the firm's employee benefits package, including paid holiday. There is also a strong possibility that the role will become permanent following the initial 12-month period.
