About the role

We are seeking a Composite, Assembly & Integration Technician, to join our team.

This exciting opportunity is based from our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire and benefits from a 4 Day Working Week (Mon - Thu).

You will be responsible for building, integrating, and testing complex assemblies within a fast‑paced engineering and development environment. Working from early-stage designs, engineering drawings, and evolving work instructions, you will transform concepts into high‑precision, functional products.

The role involves working with a variety of materials, including metals, composites, and advanced adhesives, ensuring all assemblies meet defined engineering tolerances, quality standards, and functional performance requirements. You will play an important role in bridging the gap between design and production-ready hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions to assemble precision components
  • Carry out mechanical assembly, integration, and basic functional testing of systems and sub-assemblies
  • Use precision measurement equipment to verify dimensions and ensure tolerance compliance
  • Work with a range of materials and processes, including fastening, bonding, and light fabrication
  • Identify build issues or design challenges and work with engineering teams to resolve them
  • Maintain accurate build records and documentation to support traceability and quality requirements
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including Lean / 6S practices and process refinement

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance. More details can be found here

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a high‑precision assembly or manufacturing environment (e.g. aerospace, defence, medical, or advanced R&D)
  • Ability to read and interpret ISO / ANSI engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience using precision measurement tools such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges
  • Competent in the use of manual and light power tools (e.g. drills, torque tools)
  • Understanding of Lean principles, basic root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes

Core Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail with a disciplined and methodical approach
  • Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams
  • Proactive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and support others
  • Demonstrates openness and enthusiasm for acquiring new skillsets and mastering manufacturing processes beyond their current comfort zone.

Desired Skills

  • Proven experience with vacuum‑bagging techniques
  • Practical knowledge of non‑complex composite laminating
  • Competence in mould, tool, and jig maintenance and preparation
  • Familiarity with oven and autoclave operation
  • Valid crane operating qualification
  • Background in aerospace assembly processes
