The role

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 24 Months

Play a vital role in helping Leicester City Council increase the supply of high-quality homes for local residents. As part of our Housing Development Team, you'll provide essential project, financial and administrative support to the Housing Acquisition Programme, helping to bring residential properties into the council's housing stock and support households in housing need.

Working across a varied and fast-paced programme, you'll be involved throughout the acquisition journey, coordinating property referrals and viewings, monitoring budgets and expenditure, maintaining accurate records, and producing performance reports that support effective decision-making. You'll work closely with colleagues across the council, as well as estate agents, vendors, valuers, solicitors and other external partners, helping to ensure acquisitions progress smoothly and efficiently.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major housing initiative that will make a real difference to communities across Leicester. The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with a combination of home working and attendance at City Hall and other council locations as required. The post is full time, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a fixed-term basis for 24 months.

What you'll be doing

As a Housing Acquisitions Project Support Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the council's Housing Acquisition Programme. You'll coordinate property referrals, arrange viewings and valuations, maintain accurate acquisition records, and monitor the progress of properties from initial enquiry through to completion and occupation.

You'll provide vital project and financial support by maintaining records, tracking budgets and expenditure, and producing management information and performance reports that help managers and stakeholders monitor programme delivery. Working closely with colleagues across the council and a range of external partners, including estate agents, vendors, valuers and solicitors, you'll coordinate activities, respond to enquiries, organise meetings and ensure actions are progressed in a timely manner.

You'll also contribute to effective programme governance by maintaining clear audit trails, supporting reporting requirements and helping to develop and improve systems, processes and ways of working. Through your attention to detail, organisational skills and proactive approach, you'll help ensure the programme operates efficiently and continues to deliver high-quality homes for Leicester residents.

What you'll need

You'll have experience of supporting projects or programmes and coordinating multiple activities to achieve successful outcomes. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, monitoring progress and ensuring actions are delivered to agreed timescales.

You'll be skilled at analysing and presenting information, producing clear reports and maintaining accurate records, trackers and management information. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to identify issues, track progress and support effective decision-making.

You'll be an excellent communicator who can build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, providing a professional service while working collaboratively to achieve shared objectives. You'll be comfortable engaging with colleagues, partners and customers, responding to enquiries and helping to drive progress across a busy programme.

You'll also have a good understanding of project management principles, risk management and compliance requirements, together with strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Knowledge of housing acquisition processes or experience within a housing, property or project environment would be advantageous.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working.
