The role
Join our friendly and supportive Gynaecology team at St James's University Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Senior Clinical Support Worker (CSW) to join our team on a 34.5-hour-per-week contract, supporting patients across Ward J24, the Gynaecology Assessment and Treatment Unit (GATU), and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU).
This is a flexible role, and you will be required to work across all three clinical areas according to service and patient need. Flexibility is essential, and the post holder will be required to work a combination of day and night shifts, including 11.5-hour shifts. You will also be expected to work 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday and 08:30 to 13:30 on Saturdays and Sundays where required to meet the needs of the service.
You will work closely with registered nurses, doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care to patients accessing inpatient, acute assessment, treatment and early pregnancy services.
This is a varied role in which you will have the opportunity to develop and use a broad range of clinical skills. Responsibilities will include welcoming and supporting patients, undertaking clinical observations and other delegated clinical activities within your competence, supporting investigations and procedures, undertaking phlebotomy and swabbing where trained and competent, maintaining equipment and stock, supporting clinical documentation and escalating any concerns about a patient's condition promptly to the appropriate registered healthcare professional.
You will also play an important role in supporting patients who may be experiencing pain, pregnancy loss, uncertainty, distress or undergoing sensitive gynaecological investigations and treatment. Compassion, sensitivity and maintaining patients' privacy and dignity are therefore central to this role.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable and willing to learn, with a genuine commitment to providing high-quality patient care. You will need to communicate effectively, work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to move flexibly between Ward J24, GATU and EPAU according to clinical priorities and service pressures.
If you take pride in making a positive difference to patients, value dignity and respect, and would like to be part of a team committed to delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate gynaecological care, we would love to hear from you.
